"When Zrenjanin becomes a centre for the transportation triangle Belgrade-Novi Sad-Romania, with one great natural predisposition as river Begej, fantastic opportunities will appear. Zrenjanin would be an ideal location for a logistics centre for many Italian, German, Austrian, Hungarian, and Greek investments. Precisely the options within river transport (Zrenjanin-Romania) gives the idea of establishing big transship terminals, which are low-cost storage, and from there the goods could be transported into Western Europe. This is the opportunity that Zren¬janin must take advantage of, to become a centre for transship, storage and collective transportation from Belarus, Ukraine, Romania and Hungary toward Western Europe."
Mr. Slobodan Milosavljevic, President of Serbian Chamber of Commerce
"Certain municipal governments, especially in Vojvodina have adopted a very good practice. Zrenjanin might be taken as example in this respect, since its government’s ideas about the industrial zone, the special benefi ts for investors (particularly concerning the green fi eld investments), and the opening of the “one stop shop” for investors, make good not only to their own municipality but also suggest direction to others and even to the state. It seems to me that the agile approach and knowledge are the qualities responsible for this, and not the least the above-mentioned change of mind, which tells us that the individual or the group of individuals can do a lot. Consequently, the state should not be a force that regulates the work of local municipal authorities, but only a provider of legal frame suitable for business activities. On the other hand, there is a lot to be learned from municipal governments from abroad, particularly from those countries that have recently joined the EU. The readiness to learn from others must become a practice, not the exception"
Mrs. Tanja Miscevic, director of Serbian EU integration office
