Serbia: Pompea Serb factory opened in Zrenjanin
State Secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Jasna Matic opened today a factory of socks and accessories Pompea Serb in Zrenjanin, in which the famous Italian company Pompea S.p.A invested ?4 million.
Matic said that the factory's daily output will be 350, 000 socks, mostly intended for exports and recalled that Pompea received from the National Investment Plan ?600,000 on the basis of a programme for attracting new investments and creating new jobs.
She said that in this way, through three competitions, 7,500 workers have been employed, adding that the fourth competition will be announced soon.
Director of Pompea S.p.A and Director General of Pompea Serb Adriano Rodela said that the factory in Zrenjanin already employs 120 out of 300 planned workers who were trained in Brus, where this company opened plants two years ago.
The total value of the investment project for the new factory in Zrenjanin is ?17 million. (Economy, November 03.)

Dutch Pekokar established a company in Serbia and is building the plant in Zrenjanin
After establishing its firm in Serbia, Dutch company Pekokar announced construction of the plant in Zrenjanin. Dutch company for productions of panels used in construction, and automotive parts based on polyester, started production in August 2006 in rented space in Zrenjanin, employing 25 workers who were trained in using modern machinery.
One year after doing business in AP Vojvodina, Mr. Dirk Vermeulen, the company’s manager in Serbia, announced the first phase of plant construction valued at € 4.6 million, which should be completed by the end of this year. Construction of the entire production plant, covering 12,000 square meters in Bagljas industrial zone, will go on for five years. The new plant will create at least another 200 jobs.
Pekokar rented 2.8 hectares and preparation of documentation necessary for construction works is under way. This plant in Zrenjanin will be the part of Pekokar group, whose headquarters are in Netherlands and Germany, with other plants in Great Britain, Korea, Poland, France and several more countries.

The biggest green field investment in the Balkans starting in Zrenjanin-construction of Bioethanol plant worth 380 milion €
Hungarian-American consortium has signed the contract with local self-government in Zrenjanin for building a bio-ethanol plant. Consortium comprises eight specialized companies from Budapest, Hungary. The contract of cooperation was earlier signed with these companies and supported financially by CLSM from Chicago, USA, and Komerc bank which directed a letter of intentions to finance the program to Zrenjanin municipality.
On 60 hectares of industrial zone “southeast” foreign investors will build the complex for bio-ethanol production and employ 300 workers. In agriculture and logistics, they will create 1500 new jobs.
The plan is to process 1.1 million tons of wheat and 500.000 tons of corn.
